Introduction to UNDERSTANDING MATERIALS IN ARCHITECTURE

Understanding the Materials gives you a cognitive perspective that will enable you to take the right steps by learning the right architectural materials for your projects. This presentation will outline some of the materials are used on a regular basis on projects in offices. Highlighting the importance of choosing the right material palette and working together to give the intended result. This will explore common materials like wood, concrete, tiles, stone, etc., by using a constructed project as an example. Characteristics of materials and things to be considered in choosing a material will be analyzed – sizes, finishes, other factors of the material that drive design, etc. Vendors and their websites for material sourcing.

Understanding types of materials that are commonly used in a project and the thought process that is involved in choosing the material. You will learn to choose the right materials for your project within various materials according to the climate, location, and environmental standards.
